Dental implants function, fit, and feel just like your natural teeth. They have become the preferred standard of care for dental prosthetics. No more dentures slipping around your mouth while you talk or chew – dental implants stay in place.

These artificial teeth keep your jaw from losing bone mass, support your facial muscles so your cheeks don’t sag, and enable you to consume a balanced diet that’s better for your body. At Ephrata Family Dentistry, we have the experience and technology to perform implant surgery with precision and finesse. Call our friendly office today for a Free Consultation!

A dental implant is a prosthetic that replaces the entire missing tooth structure, from root to crown. A titanium post is implanted in the jawbone to anchor the implant.

Dental implants are usually the best solution for patients that are missing one or more teeth. Ideally, candidates should be in good health and their jawbone needs to be strong enough to support an implant post. In some cases if the jawbone is weak, grafting may be performed to strengthen the bone in preparation for implant placement. Schedule a free consultation today at Ephrata Family Dentistry to find out if dental implants are right for you.

Dental implants can replace one or more teeth or all of the teeth in the mouth. While a single implant post is used to anchor a dental crown, multiple posts can be used to anchor a dental bridge or an appliance like a denture. Some patients that are missing all of their teeth choose to have implants placed below an existing denture to improve their fit and stabilization.

There are some unique advantages to dental implants over other tooth replacements because they are anchored in the jawbone. Chewing on the implant post supports the facial muscles and prevents the jaw from losing bone mass. Implants will not shift around in the mouth like some dentures can, and they fit and feel just like natural teeth! They do not require frequent repair or replacement like other options.

There are 3 stages to the dental implant placement. First, the implant post will be surgically implanted into the jawbone below the gap left by the missing tooth. Next, the post will need time to heal for a period of approximately three to six months. During this time, a temporary artificial tooth can be placed over the top of the post. Once the post has fused with the jawbone, the temporary tooth will be removed and replaced with the permanent tooth.

You should not experience any pain or discomfort throughout the procedures to place and restore a dental implant. Your mouth will be numbed and sedation dentistry is available to minimize any discomfort.

A properly placed and well cared-for implant can virtually last forever. Dental implants should be brushed and flossed and checked by a dentist every six months to a year, just like natural teeth.

What Others Are Saying

“I had my first visit this week, as I was looking for a new dentist. Every step, from setting an appointment to checking out was easy and transparent. The entire staff is tentative, welcomes you, friendly and makes you feel at home. The facility, equipment is clean, organized and modern. I was shown everything each step of my check up and explained what they will do and what I need to do. My hygienist was tentative, friendly and performed my check up promptly and with care. The doctor was a pleasure to meet and showed me a few areas of concern in an open and professional manner. I highly recommend Ephrata Family Dentistry if you're looking for a dentist or to change your current dentist!!”

“I recently moved to Ephrata and needed a new dentist. Before I could look for a new dentist I developed a tooth ache. I checked around and called Ephrata Family Dentistry. They got me into the office the same day I called. Amazing! Everyone at the office was very nice and treated me as if I had been a patient for years. I would highly recommend this dental practice.”
