Advanced Surgical Procedures

Many times, surgical procedures have to be referred outside of a general dental office. However, at Ephrata Family Dentistry, we are able to provide many in-house procedures! We are also able to complete dental implants in-office as well. We aim to provide you with the best possible care and a variety of options without having to be directed to another practice. Many of our advanced procedures aid in restorative or preventative treatment following tooth loss.

Socket Preservation

After a tooth is extracted, within the first six months bone volume can be reduced by 30-60%. This is because the bone quickly resorbs, causing the jaw bone to become narrow and lose its original shape. Socket preservation is recommended to prevent unnecessary bone loss following a tooth extraction.

Ridge Augmentation

Ridge augmentation may be recommended where a tooth has been missing or recently extracted. Bone loss from a missing tooth can affect the shape of the gums and the jawbone density. Ridge augmentation can preserve or recreate the jawbone density and natural shape of the gums.

Sinus Lift

Dr. Moriarty uses sinus lift to add bone tissue to the upper jaw due to the loss of bone density. Loss of bone density can be a result of tooth loss or gum disease.

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting also works to add bone tissue in areas of a patient’s smile where it is lacking due to tooth loss or problems with oral health.
